A comparison between a call taker position using a standard external TTY/TDD modem,
verses one with Informer's one-piece PCI internal solution.

Discrete TDD

• Solution is four pieces instead of one, wasting valuable desktop space.

• Multiple pieces are harder to support with multiple vendors.

• Lacks adjustable output for instant-recall recording.

• Requires serial port, which may be unavailable or unreliable.

• Has no interactive handset microphone-off or handset speaker-off capability, which could result in either no HCO or VCO capability, or continuous noise when in ASCII mode.

• Relies on separate external pieces to stay connected and plugged into power.

Integrated (PCI) TDD

• Solution is a one-piece design supporting the newer PCI bus technology, and resides inside dispatcher's PC, saving desktop space.

• Has dedicated processor that keeps TDD modem functions completely separate from dispatcher's workstation.

• Supports two instant recall recording ports with adjustable outputs, which also can be used as headset ports.

• Has HCO and VCO capability with silent operation when in ASCII mode.

• 3-way BAUDOT connections are more reliable by using microphone-off command when not transmitting or speaking.

• Modem has passed ATIS TWIP test with 100% perfect score.

• Each modem is tested prior to shipment for data integrity and voice-hits immunity.
